Enrollments and degrees awarded for the degree programs in the Engineering School are available at https://engineering.rice.edu/about/enrollment-degrees-awarded
The Department of Materials Science and NanoEngineering offers two undergraduate degree options:
Bachelor of Arts
The B.A. degree program is less technical than the BSMSNE and allows students more flexibility in exploring disciplines and areas of interest outside engineering. This degree is recommended for students who intend to enter professions such as the law or medicine rather than work as practicing engineers.
Bachelors of Science in Materials Science and NanoEngineering
The B.S. degree prepares students for the professional practice of engineering or graduate studies in engineering.

Leadership and Design
The Rice Center for Engineering Leadership was established to prepare students to take on leadership positions, whether they become practicing engineers, enter other professions or continue their studies in graduate school. The Leadership Certificate Program gives structure to developing leadership skills through course-work, hands-on activities and internships. The Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen is open to all engineering undergraduates for design courses and club projects. The focus of engineering design at Rice is making lives better—on campus, in Houston and beyond.
