Lou named co-editor-in-chief of Materials Today
professor and associate chair of materials science and nanoengineering (MSNE)
at Rice University, has been named co-editor-in-chief of Materials Today.
journal, founded in 1998, is changing from strictly open-access to a hybrid format
with both subscription and open-access options.
earned a Ph.D. in materials science from Princeton in 2004 and did postdoctoral
research in the Brown/GM collaborative research center at Brown University
before joining the Rice faculty in 2005. He heads the Nanomaterials,
Nanomechanics and Nanodevices Research Laboratory (N3L) at Rice.
Today is transitioning from a review-based journal into a comprehensive journal
that publishes high-quality, full-length research papers and reviews,” Lou
said. “It’s the top-tier journal in the MT family of journals, which include
Applied Materials Today and the recently launched Materials Today Energy and
Materials Today Chemistry.” His co-editor-in-chief will be Gleb Yushin, professor
of MSNE at Georgia Tech.
research interests include nanomaterial synthesis, nanomechanical
characterization and nanodevice fabrication for energy, environment and
biomedical applications. His recent research has focused on development of methods
for making atomic-scale, two-dimensional electronics a reality.
